Mixed Netball

At MIANA, we are pleased to offer seasonal Mixed Competitions which sees players take the court to participate in friendly competition. In this competition, the emphasis is on enjoyment, social atmosphere and skill development/maintenance. This is a great social sport played by both guys and girls together in one team.

You only need 3 guys and 4 girls to play. Social netball has become an incredibly popular game to experience. More so, mixed netball makes for a dynamic and fast paced game. The mixed netball game is designed to spread the male players across each third. In our 2023 Autumn Social Competition, we have seen close to 80 registered players take the courts.

NetSetGo

Woolworths NetSetGo program is netball’s official starter program for kids aged 5 to 10. This is a chance to learn the netball basics, and helps kids to gain confidence, get active and make friends in a safe and inclusive environment. There is no skill level required to get started.

In 2023, our NetSetGO program was run by our Netball Queensland Community Development Officer, Krissy Tolcher, in collaboration with our Coaching Co-Coordinators, Nikki Barlow and Jenny Tyrell. Alongside this, players from our U16 and U18 NNL teams will be assisting our NetSetGo participants. With a wealth of netball knowledge between them, this sets our youngest players up for success when they eventually compete in our Junior fixtures.

Boys Netball

Men’s and Mixed competitions aim to provide a pathway for boys to continue their development in a competitive environment, playing at a high standard with like minded players. We are committed to fostering a safe and inclusive environment for all, regardless of age, gender, or background, with a focus on fair play, sportsmanship, and teamwork. In the past 12 months alone, MIANA has seen a 440% increase in the number of boys participating in junior fixtures. In the future, we hope to offer a male competition should we have high enough demand from the Mount Isa community

In the past two years, MIANA has supported our male players to compete at a representative level. We have seen three players compete in the Queensland Suns U20s and U23s teams, as well as our first all- boys team who competed at Junior State Age in 2023. There is a growing demand for boys and men netball, and MIANA is proud to offer competitions which provide pathways for our players
